Encouragement for the Moment

Do not strive in your own strength; cast yourself at the feet of the Lord Jesus, and wait upon Him in the sure confidence that He is with you, and works in you.  Strive in prayer;  let faith fill your heart – so you will be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

–   A. Murray

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Encouragement for the Moment

Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

John 6:26-27

Sunday’s Word- 06May12

I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.

Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Praise the Lord!

Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord!

Looking Back or Plowing Ahead…Choose One!

Ah… the dreaded old budget…Some days it grows closer to the red than staying in the black. I certainly do not like it and can feel worried.   I start wondering how I can fix it, maybe go back to the way I used manage the budget.  I have tried to figure out what I can do better, and after careful consideration I realize how much inflation has swarmed in and it’s not me!   Whew!

Lately I have thought I need to return to some former methods in my life.  They were easier; they were well-known and simply more comfortable.  However, at the same time this stresses me out.  If I ever want to move forward, which I do, I cannot return to old patterns and thought processes.  Besides it is not what God wants.   I do have obligations and responsibilities that need to be tended to but there are fresh ones on the horizon. In ordered to be prepared I have to stop looking back to what was comfortable, proven and already known.

While I am stuck between these two gates I need to learn the balance of current obligations while preparing for new ones and not revert back to the previous.  It is a difficult task for me. I am good at creating successful structures.  But as I read the Word, Jesus was quite stern on this matter. He said; Let the dead bury the dead.  A strong statement; that which does not have value in my life now, no longer needs consideration even if it was not unrighteous or harmful.  I do not need to spend time covering it, tending to it or putting it to rest.  It is time to move forward.

Jesus said; Looking back is not fit for the Kingdom. What a frightening thought!  I have to be more than unwavering and make a greater effort to not let my thoughts or vision slip backward. I want to be; no I have to be, fit for the Kingdom.  I cannot be a lazy, flabby, lukewarm Christian.  In my natural life, being fit takes discipline, determination, desire and old fashioned hard work. This is true in my spiritual life as well. So I am choosing this one!

Besides looking back didn’t really work out for Lot’s wife…

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.   Luke 9:62

Sunday’s Word – 05Feb12

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Eph 6: 10-18
